🌍 Market Context
Macro Pulse:
The BoJ raised to 1.0% on June 16 - highest since 1995 - but paired it with a bond-tapering pause, which took the edge off. BTC briefly hit $66,000 on the news before the session closed red. The Fed opened Warsh's first FOMC the same day. The decision and first press conference land today. May CPI at 4.2% - highest in three years - has already done the work of killing the rate-cut case.
On-Chain Highlights:
BTC dominance near 56%; alts sold harder across the board. Long-term holders are sitting on 16.3M BTC near all-time highs - accumulation, not exit.
🔍 Deep Dive - Warsh's First FOMC: What the Dot Plot Tells Crypto
Nobody is trading the rate decision. A 98% hold probability means the number itself is noise.
The dot plot is the actual event. March's median projected one 25bp cut for 2026. The June update is expected to erase it. Bank of America flagged that at least three voting members may project a hike. CME FedWatch puts 50.5% odds on at least one 2026 rate increase - this was near zero in January.
Warsh opposed QE2 during his 2006-2011 Fed tenure, called post-pandemic stimulus a "fatal policy error," and pushed for a smaller balance sheet. He was also nominated by a president who spent a year demanding rate cuts. He says he will not predetermine a decision at the White House's request. His press conference at 2:30 PM ET today is the first real data point on which version of Warsh the market actually gets.
For crypto: if hike signals appear in the dots, $62,000-$63,000 gets tested. If cuts are preserved, BTC targets $67,000. If the dots land exactly where markets already expect - flat - the reaction is probably nothing, and the next move comes from whatever Warsh says out loud.
